Every year the yacht exhibition in Düsseldorf opens with the presentation of the European "Oscars" the very best boats. And also, according to tradition, every year the yachting community starts a controversy:
"Yes, for what? But how? Yes, this one here?»
And this is understandable — no one has yet come up with a flawless way to select candidates for the main prize. By lenght? It turns out a wild mix of motley boats, and rightfully questions arise on what basis the winner was chosen (often it's like comparing a Mulinex steamer and a Porsche 918 Spyder). Type? In this case, the list can be very long. We decided not to enter into this pointless argument, but simply to tell you about boats that are in any case worthy of attention as reflecting the trends in shipbuilding today.
Sailboats of the Year - Which sailboat deserves the award is decided by representatives of 11 leading yachting magazines from 11 European countries who have tested all the nominees. During the voting, the "national" as a rule, journalists cannot vote for a boat from their own country.
Family cruiser category
Winner Bavaria Cruiser 46
Bavaria was nominated in 2010, but then it didn't work out — The title of the best family cruiser was taken away by Dufour. The older model completed what the younger — Since then, a lot of water has flowed under the bridge, and technically the shipyard has grown. But, in general, this is the first victory for Bavaria in the European "Oscar". Congratulations!
Category "Luxury cruiser"
Winner Wauquiez Centurion 57
We visited it during the exhibition — really very beautiful, solid classic boat.
Category "Special Yachts»
Winner Advanced 44
It combines two opposite concepts: a racing boat and a "weekend" yacht; (a controversial wording if the owner spends all weekends at regattas).
