Connoisseurs of yachting trends know firsthand about the conservatism of yacht interiors. And only during the last decades, the conservatism of the yachting world began to lose ground, not only intensively enriched by design diversity. Thus, the design of modern yachts has become characteristic not only of marine classics, but also of such styles as ethno, futurism and fusion.
Classic
Let's start with the dominant style of the yacht interior – classic. To many, the classics may seem boring and uninteresting, but this is not the case with the Virginian yacht. This is a 62-meter British superyacht built in 1990 by the Dutch shipyard Feadship. She is a bright representative of the classic style in the yacht interior. Consistency, sensitivity and professionalism of designer David Easton's design made it a real noble estate. Finishing of noble wood in combination with light carpets gives the space freshness and comfort. By the way, at the time of the creation of the Virginian interior, the installation of fireplaces was an innovation, and the salon of this yacht became the first owner of a warm corner. The highlight of the upper deck was the bar in retro style. If we talk about decorative and applied stuffing, then everything is fine with this – here every detail is in place, nothing superfluous: from a porcelain figurine, a magnifying glass, a knife with a bone handle to a picture decorating the interior of the ship. Despite over two decades of service, the yacht is still as good as new thanks to the careful attitude of the crew of the Virginian.
Art Deco
Launched in 2007, the 68m superyacht Kismet is next in line to share her wealth. This yacht is a worthy representative of Art Deco style. The interior of the yacht – handiwork of designer Raymond Langton. Getting inside this yacht, you involuntarily recall the descriptions of chic interiors from the pages of oriental fairy tales. Here we see the luxury of classic furniture, artfully combined colorful mosaics of colored glass, beadwork, and these beautifully matched interior items.
Hampton
This style is quite common in the yachting world. The origin of this style goes back to the East Coast of the United States, where the towns of East Hampton and Southampton, in the eastern part of Long Island, spent weekends and holidays in New York rich people. Hampton combines an informal beach style with the sophistication and luxury of high society. And to represent this style in our review will be the 42-meter yacht Oxygen. This yacht was created by Baglietto (Italy) and was designed by Jean-Pierre Fantini. The yacht's spaces feature white walls that are knowingly complemented by accessories from the Ralph Lauren Home Collection. A visitor to the Oxygen yacht will definitely feel like an American movie star of the mid-20th century.
Fusion
The 70 meter long yacht Numptia, which is only a year old from the date of her creation, is elegant on the outside, but has a very strict classic exterior design. But here is the interior of a superyacht of Italian origin (Rossinavi shipyard), its creator – designer Salvagni Arcitetti – made it as unique and unexpected as possible. The designer used the marine theme to create unexpected solutions. So, at first glance, the interior seems moderate and peaceful, while, having taken a closer look, the visitor reveals the mystery of the design solution: simple, at first glance, furniture elements come to life, turning either into an alligator, or into a snake, and on a sandstone panel they are about to come to life pelicans. Salvagni borrowed a lot from the nautical design of ocean liners of the 1930s and 40s and used the concept of Poor Luxury, which belongs to Jean-Michel Franck – French minimalist designer of the early 20th century.
Futurism
And now we will see the most unusual spectacle from the world of yacht design – the extravagant 54-meter long superyacht Sea Force One. She was built by the Italian shipyard Mariotti Yachts in 2008. To begin with, it should be noted that the author of the interior design idea was its owner, an investment banker from London, who is an all-time fan of hoaxes and is nicknamed Captain Magic. But the implementation of the idea fell on the designer Luca Dini. How is the futuristic yacht Sea Force One different? First of all, the fact that it combines interior items and furniture of different styles, different worlds, but in general everything looks luxurious and restrained. There is luxurious representative furniture, a hammock in the corner of the room and huge African drums. The frames of the space break thanks to mirror reflections, and the relief ceilings shine with a multitude of color reflections. Summing up, we note that luxurious design only benefits from the inclusion of spicy interior items and experiments with space distortion.
